As we head into the weekend, some of us will be out and about enjoying the remaining beautiful weather before the winter, or to try and sneak a peak at fall foliage. As we do so, we want to remind everyone how to be a good tourist at Lake Keowee. Some tips we would like to share are: 1. Clean your recreation vehicle for any contaminants or invasive species before placing the craft in the water. 2. Do not harass or harm any wildlife or fish. 3. Do not litter. 4. Follow SCDNR guidelines when fishing. 5. Here are some key steps you can take to help: 1. Maintain Vegetation: Keep natural vegetation around the lake to absorb excess rainwater. 2. Proper Disposal: Dispose of trash, chemicals, and hazardous materials properly. Don’t let them end up in our water! 3. Rain Gardens: Create rain gardens to manage runoff in your yard. 4. Buffer Zones: Establish buffer zones with plants and trees near the water to filter pollutants. 5. Rain Barrels: Use rain barrels to collect and reuse rainwater for your garden.
